Photography
Check whether the Sun, the Moon and the corona fit in your frame before you travel. A rough calculation using thin-lens optics.
Tips for this event
- A long focal length shows the discs; a short one, the pair over the landscape.
- Check the altitude from where you are: near the horizon, the atmosphere blurs the image.
- Use a tripod and a remote release to avoid camera shake.
Field of view
0.53° disc to scale. The halo marks 3 solar diameters: it is a framing guide for the corona, not its real shape.
